Although, women engaged in independent vocations such as weaving and pottery, nevertheless, they still worked on their husbands' farms and also helped in marketing the produce of the farm, thereby generating additional income for the women weavers. The yarn that is attached to the loom is called the warp, and the woof or weft is woven through it. A tabletwoven starting border with tablets still attached has been found in Spain in a 5th century BC grave, so we know the method was defintely in use well before Romano-British times.
